Measuring your horse for Old Mac's Multi-purpose Horse Boots

To help ensure we bring the correct sizes of boots for your horse, please measure the feet before requesting a fitting.

It is very important to have the correct size of boots for your horse. To get accurate measurements of your horse's feet, they should be freshly trimmed by their usual farrier.

  • Length: measure in millimetres from the toe to an imaginary line drawn across the hoof between the heel buttresses (see the diagram below). Do not include the heel bulbs in this measurement.
  • Width: measure the width of the hoof at the widest point (in millimetres).

The correct size for your horse will be dependent on the largest of the measurements and will determine whether G1 or G2 boots suit your horse best. In New Zealand, G1 boots are often more suitable for our horses as they have a wider sole.

We are offering a free fitting service to selected areas in Canterbury. To request a fitting please contact us.
